Finding and sharing your creativity with Sophie Hansen and Annie Herron

Friday 30th September, 10am - 4pm, 316 Rouse Street Tenterfield.

Cook, author and social media whizz Sophie Hansen is coming to Galah's Tenterfield Store with her mother, artist Annie Herron, to host a workshop all about creativity.

This full-day workshop with Annie Herron and Sophie Hansen is all about finding and sharing your style in a way you're excited and confident about. Through art and phone photography, Annie and Sophie will help you clarify what and how you want to create, for yourself or an online community. They want everyone to go home with a camera roll and sketchbook full of ideas and feel excited and confident to practice them.

Galah's editor Annabelle Hickson will be your host and cook, making a delicious (she hopes) morning tea and lunch.

Sophie and Annie's full-day workshop will go something like this:

10-11am: Colour, Composition and inspiration 101. As Picasso said, you need to know the rules to break them, so here Annie will share the basics of colour theory and good composition. She'll also get us thinking about finding inspiration and making your work uniquely yours.

11.30-11.45am: Morning tea

11.45-1.30pm: Photography and Journals. The best camera is the one you have on you so let's get the most out of these smartphone cameras (which are amazing btw). Using what we just learned about composition, we'll go through some basics that will help take your photos up a few notches straight away. We'll also practice sketching thumbnails of what we're shooting to really start thinking about what we are taking a picture of. And we'll have a go at sketching and shooting a few different scenes (vignettes/flat lays/people doing things).

1.30-2.30pm: Lunch

2.30-4pm: Collage and sketching composition exercises. Building a still life scene and drawing and shooting it.
